Activity Report 2010-2011

Financial year 2010-11 has been an exciting year for Blind With Camera project - 

1. Over 100 visually impaired people are trained in photography since 2006. 
2. Conducted residency workshop for visually impaired on pinhole camera in collaboration with CAP-GOA (www.goa-cap.com)
3. Photography workshop spread beyond Mumbai, conducted in collaboration with NAB in Goa and Sankara Eye Hospital in Bangalore (www.sankaraeye.com).
4. Exhibited new work coming out of workshops at Kala Academy Panjim with support from Heritage Jazz Goa (www.heritagejazz.com) and NAB Goa.
5. Exhibited work at “Antarchakshu” (The Inner Eye) at St. Xavier’s College Mumbai, supported from XRCVC (www.xrcvc.org)
6. Launched e-school of photography for visually impaired (www.blindwithcamera.org) with support from Social Sync (www.socialsync.org). This is first e-school of its kind in the world and has average hit 400 per month.  
7. Developed “Train the Trainer” module to create a pool of sighted photographer for giving training in photography to the visually impaired.
8. Exhibited at an international disability art festival in Liverpool and the Nehru Centre in London (our first exhibition outside India)
9. Reviewed by several national and international media like The Guardian and BCC in UK.
10. Shortlisted for the NASSCOM Social Innovation Honours (www.nasscomfoundation.org) under non-profit category. Lost to a brilliant project by Planet Read (www.planetread.org)  
11. Launched “Seeing Beyond Sight” a blindfold photo and multi sensory workshop for sighted, conducted at Edelweiss Group (www.edelgive.org) and HVB Global Academy (www.hvbglobalacademy.org)
12. Adapted by Sadhana Centre for Management & Leadership Development (SCMLD) Pune (www.scmld.org) to prompt our programs in corporate and generate income for us.
13. Selected as collaborative partner to “Art Beyond Sight” (www.artbeyondsight.org) a global consortium on art by blind managed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
14. Registered with iVounnteer (www.ivolunteer.in) to meet our volunteer need.
15. Registered under 80G of Income Tax Act of India.
